You probably have a nickname!? Tell us about the funny story behind!
Well, my name is Scharti and I don’t have a nickname. My mom and dad call me Scharti, my friends, my boss, my ex girl friends. You put down my real name I come over and hit you big time.

Do you remember your first day on a snowboard?
January 1988. A Mamboo ‘Shock Stick’ with Limboo bindings, old touring boots of my dad, where I had cut off the toe part of the inner liner so they would fit me. I could only do a frontside turn the first day while my buddy managed to do both turns at the end of day one. I was sooo pissed with myself.

How did you learn new  tricks back in the days?
We just did it. There was a Dutch guy we were all looking up to and he could do a 360! When we saw that we were impressed. All we could do so far was backscratchers, trailgrabs, slob airs, tweaker. 3 days later we could do a 360 as well. It really looked like shit back then though.

Why did you never stop snowboarding since then?
Well I did! Due to injuries I started skiing again. I know you shred Nazis don’t want to hear it, but freeriding is fun on all different kind of equipment. Telemark is damn fun too. Sorry boyz.

You probably have visited a bunch of different ski resorts already. What is your favorite place, what was the most exotic and where would you like to live and ride in the future?
Sorry, I don’t understand that question...:) Forget it, find out yourself. Japan is sick though for pow...and far away.

You  also must have seen tons of snowboard videos in the past. What´s your favorite video part and why do you remember it?
I always admired Tom Burt in the old TB movies. He is one of the best freeriders ever and he was doing the most exposed and gnarly lines. He is my hero. Also redneck Shawn Farmer, he showed beginning of the 90s what freeriding is. When I saw him ride in ‚Critical Conditions’ I knew I want to do it like him... well, never really did it as gnarly...:-(

Let us know about your favorite trick! Do you have any specials in your trick bag?
Nope. And I couldn’t care less about my bag of tricks. I am too oldschool.

What do you like most about Völkl Snowboards?
I can do my own board in terms of shape and design in coop with two really good friends. Our board works sooo good, everyone who ever rode it was stoked about it. Watch out for next year’s Selecta, looks and works even better than ever before.

What about entertainment? Let us know about your gigabytes of MP3s and videos!
Gangstarr & Youporn

How do you make your stomach happy? You for sure have some favorite drinks and food!?
My stomach is happy if I don’t drink too much alcohol. But I like Vodka a lot, so there is a fundamental problem between stomach and brain. Stomach usually looses.

What was your best experience so far in life? Can you explain a little?
Having serious injuries and coming back of it. You are so afraid of not being able to shred again or do other sports you really like. When you finally can go back up the mountain you see what is really important in life. Your health. All the rest is bullshit problems caught up in society.

And finally what is your biggest dream?
Not to worry about money anymore. Sounds stupid, but I would like to do so many different things in my life, but I have to earn money to keep going. I am really having a ball and I am not complaining at all, but with some permanent bucks on my account life would even be more fun. I am a guy who does not need to work for feeling OK in his life. You will understand when you turn my age, ya fucken’ groms!

Stay in the funpark kids, it is way safer! And safes me a lot of good time!
